The Mahoning County commissioners of Youngstown, Ohio have approved the final year of Health Proffesionals, LTD.’s (HPL) four-year contract for health services at all county jails. The contract covers medications for inmates and the services of personnel who provide the care, including a physician, a dentist, a psychiatrist and 22 nurses.
The Mahoning County Jail has an inmate population that fluctuates between 500 and 550 inmates.
“We look at HPL as preventative. What we pay is a fraction of what you’d pay with a lawsuit. Bottom line, working with HPL is being proactive.”
