Customization & Collaboration

At HPL, we know that every institution is unique. As such, we approach each program as a customizable set of services that will meet or exceed that customer's indivual needs. We will always remain flexible in order to adjust to the demands of the administration and the students, never sacrificing quality of care provided on your campus.

We will also promote continuous collaboration between the client and HPL. We realize that staying atune to current issues and events on your campus is critical to providing appropriate care to all. We understand your priority is to create an enviornment conducive to learning and catered to your students' needs, and as such this is our mission as well.

Below are a few of the numerous programs we can provide your campus:

Sports Medicine

HPL provides primary care orthopedic services and coordinates the treatment of specialty care, if medically necessary. We will also provide athletic physicals and consultation with the College’s athletic training staff. HPL’s medical professionals will treat any injuries sustained at athletic events during normal clinical hours and through after-hours on-call services.

Health Education and Wellness

Our health and wellness programs support learning objectives for all students, and the outcomes of health services are measured, not just in health outcomes, but in academic terms of class attendance, GPA, retention, graduation rates, and semesters to completion of requirements. Teaching students about how to live healthy lives and how to prevent illness is an important aspect of healthcare and treatment.

When treating students, we ensure that they learn about the etiology and nature of their illnesses, about the signs and symptoms, and how to cope and live with them. While students will make their own decisions about their healthcare choices, the pros and cons of each intervention will be clearly explained to them. We believe that health education is a continuous process that occurs during illnesses, preventative care visits, and formal education sessions. We will provide a variety of education programs for students depending on the College’s needs.

Preventative Programs

In partnership with Colorado College, we will provide prevention programs that include activities and services designed to improve health and prevent disease, injury, and violence among college and university students. Prevention services include assisting students achieve greater personal health, building stronger interpersonal relationships, and forging a strong sense of community. HPL will also launch health communications projects which utilize marketing and media techniques to inform and motivate students toward healthier choices.

HPL recognizes that sexual health is a hot topic on any college campus. Sexual health is specially designed for women’s and men’s health clinics. A core component of the prevention program will be focused on providing sex education and assistance about sexual decision-making to young adults who are clarifying issues concerning sexual behavior and healthy relationships.

Women’s Health

We recognize the special needs of the female student population and have developed a program specific to their needs. Gynecologically-trained nurse practitioners and physicians provide all services. Our women’s health program includes access to healthcare professionals specializing in obstetrical and gynecological services including routine pelvic examinations, annual pap smear testing and mammograms, as determined by the student’s medical history and medical examination. Other women’s health offerings include contraceptive counseling and prescription, treatment of routine gynecological problems, minor procedures such as colposcopy, pregnancy consultation, and prenatal care.
