Self Sustaining
HPL typically offers its college clients a self-sustaining student medical center that will neither charge the College for any medical services nor require any student fees. Instead, all healthcare costs will be billed directly to and paid for by the students’ or the parents’ insurance. This approach is contingent upon the college or university enforcing the requirement that all students provide proof of insurance or are otherwise required to purchase student health insurance.
Billing Process
HPL will handle all aspects of the billing process. We will be responsible for verifying insurance when the student visits the health center. We are also responsible for collecting the student’s co-pay, coinsurance, or deductible obligation during the visit and accurately documenting and coding the visit. We will submit the insurance claim to the insurance provider, and troubleshoot the issue if the provider denies the claim for any reason. This is done on a daily basis to ensure quick and accurate payments to the clinic for services provided.
Student Health Insurance Plans
HPL will partner with any applicable student health insurance plans (SHIP) to seamlessly integrate our campus primary care services with community specialty care, emergency services, and hospitalization. We will collaborate with the SHIP carrier to incentivize students to maximize their utilization of on-campus care, providing them greater access to more relevant health services, at lower costs. Optimizing campus health services utilization also benefits your institution, as the clinical encounter will allow our staff to identify and address the underlying health issues that can impede a student’s academic progression.
