History/Mission

HPL was established in Illinois in 1995 by three physicians with a vison to provide quality, affordable, managed healthcare to inmates in a correctional environment. Today, with a growing team of more than 570 employees, HPL provides services for more than 129 jail and prison facilities in 11 states.

HPL became a subsidiary of Correctional Healthcare Companies, Inc., (CHC) in March 2007. CHC is a national leader in inmate healthcare management, offering comprehensive networks of correctional healthcare management products and services. For more information about CHC, please visit www.correctioncare.com.

We are also proud to be associated with Correctional Healthcare Management, Inc. (CHM). A sister company to HPL, CHM began providing healthcare services to inmate populations in Colorado in 1997. Today, CHM services more than 76 facilities in 11 states, which range in average daily population from 20 to more than 2,000. For more information about CHM, please visit www.jailcare.com.

“We look at HPL as preventative. What we pay is a fraction of what you’d pay with a lawsuit. Bottom line, working with HPL is being proactive.”
